Washington constructively assesses the talks between US and Russian diplomats in Istanbul, which lasted about 6.5 hours.
According to the US State Department, Washington expressed concern over the availability of banking and contractual services, as well as the need to replenish the staff of the US Embassy in Moscow.
“As a result of constructive discussions, the parties outlined initial clear steps to stabilize the operations of diplomatic missions,” the statement said.
It is also noted that the US delegation was headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Russia and Central European Affairs Sonata Coulter, and the Russian delegation was headed by Ambassador Alexander Darchiev, Director of the North Atlantic Department of the Foreign Ministry.
Coulter and Darchiev agreed to organize another meeting on these issues in the near future. The dates and venue have not yet been decided.
